You set the places that matter — an office address, your gym, a specific school, or a whole category like “any grocery store” — and a time budget for each. The map then keeps the homes that reach all of them inside that budget, and draws the route and the minute count from every home to every place.
The scoring is the part a filter cannot do. Each home gets a Proximity Score out of 100 based on how comfortably it meets your list, not merely whether it squeaked past the limit. A home 12 minutes from all five of your places outranks one that is 29 minutes from work and badly placed for the rest.
Why a radius gives the wrong answer
A ten-mile circle treats a freeway run and a crawl through surface streets as the same journey. In the Phoenix metro they are not remotely the same. Homes that look equidistant on a map routinely differ by fifteen minutes or more, and a circle has no way to show you that — it will exclude a well-connected home just outside it while including a badly connected one just inside.
Phoenix averages 25.6 minutes each way, with 64.2% of workers driving alone (2024 American Community Survey). Those are minutes, not miles, and minutes are what you actually spend.
The trips that are not work
Work is five round trips a week. The grocery run, the school drop-off, the gym, the coffee before an early meeting — together those are usually more, and they are the ones that quietly decide whether a location works. That is why the map takes a list of places rather than a single destination, across sixteen categories plus anything specific you add yourself.
What it does not do
Travel times are estimated from the road network, not from live traffic, so they describe a typical journey rather than your Tuesday at 7:45am. Coverage is the Phoenix metro. And it is a shortlisting tool, not a replacement for driving the route yourself before you make an offer — which you should still do, at the hour you will really travel.
